Southern Comfort

| As hard as I try I can never produce pictures that do justice to my trunks, but I try. If there is anything you'd like to see a little closer, let me know and I will try to provide it for you. |

December 14/05 - going to Indiana
| There are a lot of these trunks around. Their average height is usually only 12 to 13 inches, making them, not undesirable but a little less functional for today's need of old trunks. It's a Statesman trunk, designed to slip under a cot or bed aboard ships. To make it useful once again as a coffee table I added the cast iron claw feet shown below. It is now a beautiful, useful piece of rustic furniture that will last another 100 years or more and bravo to that! |

| All of the hardware has been cleaned, polished and clear coat
protected from rust.
The lock works and a new key is included. |
| Below are some of the woodburning designs I've done to the front, back and ends of the trunk. The colours are translucent oil based stains and are permanent. Photo enlarged. |
| The embossed tin on the corners is a basket weave pattern |
| My own custom made leather handles |
| Almost 6 square feet of coffee table surface |
|
|
| My name plate - first time used, branded onto a piece of my own harvest of black cherry wood. Signed and dated on the reverse side. |
| And finally I added a five compartment tray with removable black felt liners. Sorry the picture is so dark. |
