It's a pretty good guess
that this trunk was surely a "Designer Trunk" during those early
times. Believed to originate from France, it is covered with a tooled
leather covering and equipped with all solid brass hardware,
including the double locks. Some leather panels on the lid were too far
damaged to restore so the wood was stained to match the original
leather. (* indicates the panels with the missing leather). This trunk
was just too special to let go. Every nail, tack, slat hardware and
lock is solid brass, not plated. The slats are oak. The locks both work
and a new key is included.
