The Alaskan
Circa 1900
Sold
| If you had to travel to Alaska in the early 1900 you would have needed an extra sturdy trunk like this one. There is an extra heavy metal band around the outside edges, most just have tin. You'll also note the heavy steel hardware on the slats and lid guides all around the front and sides. Certainly this trunk was built for rugged travel. The original lock works like a charm and comes with a key. Most certainly this trunk is a one-of-a-kind - Guaranteed! |
| It's important to note that all the colors used in the designs are translucent oil based stains, not paint. The designs are burned into the wood, then stained and both are permanent. All paints used on my trunks are sprayed on, never brushed. |
| In order to maintain the original look of a trunk when it comes to
leather straps and handles
I like to make my own. Anything available on the market usually comes in "one size fits all" and pre-stained factory colors only and that just isn't good enough. Call me fussy - because I am. |

| The straps are a full 1 1/2 wide just like the originals, made from 8 oz. leather with new solid brass roller buckles. |

| Nobody is ever going to look under your trunk but it's important for me to show you that it's been treated with the same attention to detail as the rest of the trunk. |
